What to include

  • Project details: size at final output, material if known, single/double-sided
  • Colors: PMS numbers (e.g., Pantone Solid Coated) or CMYK builds
  • Reference: a small proof PDF showing intended layout

File Prep Specs

  • Preferred formats: PDF/X-1a or vector PDF/EPS with outlined fonts. AI (Illustrator) OK. PSD accepted if flattened.
  • Fonts: convert all text to outlines (no live fonts). If you must send live text, include the .ttf/.otf.
  • Images & resolution: 300 DPI at final size for small/medium signs; 150–200 DPI at final size is fine for large viewing distances.
  • Color mode: CMYK or PMS spot colors. RGB will be converted and may shift.
  • Bleed & safe: add 0.125″ bleed (small signs) or 0.25″ (large). Keep critical text/logos 0.25–0.5″ from edges.
  • Cut/route paths (if needed): provide a vector path on its own layer/spot color named “CutContour”.
  • Linked files: embed images or include “Links” folder when sending packaged AI files.
  • Naming: Community_Project_Size_Date.ext (e.g., OakHill_MonumentPanel_24x36_2025-08-20.pdf).
  • Proofing: we provide a production proof for sign-off; color chips can be produced for critical matches.

Note: We print exactly to your approved proof and color specs unless design changes are requested.

Artwork Guidelines FAQs

We recommend vector files such as AI, EPS, or PDF for the sharpest results. High-resolution JPGs, PNGs, or TIFFs may also be used, but vector ensures scalability without losing quality.

For large format signs, artwork should be at least 150 dpi at full size. For smaller items, 300 dpi is preferred to keep images sharp and readable.

All print files should be in CMYK color mode, since digital screens display in RGB. Converting to CMYK before sending helps ensure colors match your final printed sign more accurately.
